KAMPALA, November 7, 2025 — The Bishop of the Diocese of Kampala and Archbishop of the Church of Uganda, The Most Rev. Dr. Stephen Samuel Kaziimba Mugalu, has called upon Christians to remain anchored in faith, promote peace, and uphold unity as ambassadors of Christ.

He made the call while presiding over the Diocesan Council meeting held at All Saints’ Cathedral, Kampala on Friday, November 7, 2025. The meeting brought together the Assistant Bishop, the Provost, the Diocesan Secretary, Archdeacons, chairpersons of boards, and representatives from various parishes and ministries.

In his opening remarks, Archbishop Kaziimba thanked members for their unwavering commitment to the service of God and welcomed newly appointed leaders to the Diocesan Secretariat; Rev. Dr. Henry Majwala, the Diocesan Secretary, and Mrs. Sarah Munezero Duhimbaze, the Diocesan Treasurer-both of whom joined the Secretariat in September 2025.

He also extended a warm welcome to all newly appointed Board members, appreciating their willingness to serve in various capacities within the Diocese.

The Archbishop expressed compassion and hope to those affected by the recent landslides in the Sebei region, the floods in Kampala, and the increasing insecurity and robbery cases around the city.

Archbishop Kaziimba congratulated all clergy and lay leaders who have made significant achievements in pastoral ministry, academics, and other fields. He especially celebrated Rev. Canon Assoc. Prof. Grace Lubaale, who was recently elected Bishop of Busoga Diocese, whose consecration and enthronement will take place on Sunday, December 14, 2025.

The Archbishop also gave thanks to God for the first anniversary of the dedication of the new Cathedral Sanctuary, which was consecrated on November 1, 2024. He commended all who contributed towards its construction and the ongoing development of the Diocese, noting that the Cathedral stands as a powerful symbol of faith and unity.

Addressing the role of Christians in governance and civic life, Archbishop Kaziimba urged believers to be “ambassadors of peace” who pray, respect one another, and promote understanding across all spheres of society. “Let us promote peace and respect for one another, especially in politics and governance,” he said. “May we always remember that Christ Himself is our peace.”

The Archbishop unveiled the Provincial Theme for 2026, drawn from Ephesians 2:14–17: “Anchored in Christ for unity, stability, and peace.” He encouraged the entire Diocese to live out this theme by strengthening evangelism, discipleship, and community transformation in their various contexts.

In his concluding remarks, Archbishop Kaziimba thanked all Diocesan Council members for their dedication, prayers, and teamwork. He commended the clergy and lay leaders for their continued faithfulness, urging them to remain steadfast and united in service. “Let us look to the future with faith and hope,” he said. “May we continue to draw strength from Christ, our anchor, as we work together for the unity, stability, and peace of our Diocese and our nation.”

The Diocesan Secretary, Rev. Dr. Henry Majwala, reported that Rev. Canon John Awodi, the former Diocesan Secretary, retired on August 30, 2025. The Diocese together with the Cathedral bid him farewell on Sunday, September 7, 2025. “We pray that God will continue to bless him even in his retirement,” Rev. Majwala said.

He added that he was appointed as Diocesan Secretary with effect from September 1, 2025, and expressed gratitude to the Archbishop for the opportunity to serve. The former Diocesan Treasurer, Mrs. Merab Gaamuwa, retired in December 2024, and was succeeded by Mrs. Sarah Munezero Duhimbaze, who officially assumed office on September 1, 2025.
