The New Diocesan Treasurer, Mrs. Sarah Munezero Duhimbaze

By Ivan Naijuka

Mrs. Sarah Munezero Duhimbaze was born in Kabale District to Bishop David and Mrs. Marion Sebuhinja, and she is the fourth of five children. While in Primary Five at Seseme Integrated Primary School in Kisoro District, she gave her life to Christ, a defining step in her spiritual journey.

She attended St. Joseph’s Girls School Nsambya for O’ Level and Seroma Christian High School for A’ Level before joining Ndejje University, where she graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration (majoring in Accounting). She later attained her Certified Public Accountant (CPA) qualification and a Master of Business Administration (Finance major) from Amity University, India.

Sarah’s career began as a volunteer in the Accounts Office at the Diocese of Kampala. She then worked with Stanbic Bank as a Reconciliation Officer before returning to serve again at the Diocese. In November 2014, she joined St. Francis Chapel, Makerere as Chapel Accountant and was later promoted to Chapel Administrator in 2019. In September 2025, she was appointed Diocesan Treasurer of the Diocese of Kampala.

She is married to Mr. Nicodemus Duhimbaze, a banker by profession.

Sarah is guided by the conviction that “working in a church is not just a job but a ministry – it is beyond a paycheck.” She envisions a Secretariat characterized by collaboration, excellence, stronger linkage with the Parishes, establishment of a retirement scheme for church workers, and the streamlining of financial processes and policies.

Her ministry is anchored in Philippians 4:13 – “I can do all this through Him who gives me strength.”
