Diocese Holds Christmas and End-of-Year Thanksgiving for Clergy and Secretariat Staff

Namirembe, Thursday 18 December 2025‑The Diocese of Kampala brought together Clergy and Diocesan Secretariat staff for an end-of-year and Christmas thanksgiving celebration hosted by the Archbishop at his palace in Namirembe.

The gathering was marked by fellowship, carols, testimonies, encouragement, and appreciation for ministry work across the year 2025.

While sharing with the team, the Archbishop of the Church of Uganda and Bishop of the Diocese of Kampala, The Most Rev. Dr. Samuel Stephen Kaziimba Mugalu, shared from Isaiah 9:6, reminding the team of the peace and hope that comes through Christ.

“For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”

He noted that this prophecy gives believers assurance that God’s promises may seem delayed, but they will always be fulfilled in His perfect timing.

“God is never early or late, His timing is always the best,” he said.

Reflecting on the prophecy in Isaiah, the Archbishop emphasized that what the world needed most then, and still needs today, is peace. The names given to the Messiah each describe His character and mission. He urged the team to consider three types of peace during this Christmas season:

  • Peace between God and humanity, which Christ came to restore;
  • Peace with oneself, leaving behind negativity and embracing a renewed life in Christ;
  • Peace with neighbors, beyond differences, ideologies, and backgrounds.

That is the purpose of Christmas. As we celebrate, peace must be established,” he said.

The Diocesan Secretary, Rev. Dr. Henry Majwala, thanked the clergy for serving sacrificially across the Diocese, even when many live far from the churches they serve in.

“The Diocese of Kampala is unique. Many of you serve long distances from your churches, yet you remain faithful in ministering to God’s people. We thank you,” he noted.

He also expressed gratitude to the Diocesan Secretariat for its commitment and excellent work throughout the year.

He sympathized with clergy and staff who lost loved ones in 2025, thanking fellow ministers who stood with them in difficult moments. He further appreciated the Head of Clergy for consistently mobilizing and supporting ministers in both good and challenging times.

Encouraging the staff and clergy not to grow weary in service, he quoted Colossians 3:23–24:

“Work with all your heart, knowing you are serving the Lord Christ Himself.”

He urged the team to continue in prayer, diligence, and goodness—serving the Master who sees every labour offered in His name.

The Diocesan Secretary announced that February and March 2026 would feature the induction of new archdeaconries.

The gathering concluded with a shared meal, joyful singing from the clergy team, and a light-hearted moment as the Archbishop and Maama Margaret Kaziimba joined in singing some of their beloved songs, drawing warm applause and laughter from the team.
