Christ Community Church Mutungo Joins Diocese of Kampala

Mutungo Kampala- Today, June 22, 2023 the Archbishop of the Church of Uganda, who is also the Bishop of the Diocese of Kampala, The Most Rev Dr. Samuel Stephen Kaziimba Mugalu has today received Christians and property of Christ Community Church Mutungo (CCCM) into the Diocese of Kampala.

The function happened at CCCM premises in Mutungo where the Christians have been congregating since 2001. While receiving the land titles of the premises, the Archbishop commended the people who started the church; the vision bearers, vision supporters and vision implementers.

“We are here to thank God together for the far he has brought us, to remember our departed comrades who were part of this community-Mukhama and Nyeko but also to receive you officially in the Diocese of Kampala so that we can work together” Archbishop said.

Archbishop encouraged the community to remain committed to the true worship, to follow church structures; else, they create a heart of deficiency, which is ungodly.
The CCCM started when a group of Christians who were staying in Mutungo but fellowshipping from Church of Resurrection Bugolobi COU were put in one home cell.

The members would pray in different homes, which attracted other members in the area to join them.
The group grew bigger and on 16 September 2001, they opened for the first Sunday service under rented premises.
The congregation grew stronger in spirit and numbers and members started buying property on which they worship but also started the construction a new sanctuary that is about completion.

The handover was witnessed by the Diocesan Secretary, Rev Canon John Awodi, the Vicar, Church of Resurrection Bugolobi Rev. Emmanuel Kalagala, Rev. Canon Festus Udongo who represented the Southern Archdeacon, the Diocesan Estates Officer Mr. Jared Ochenge, Christians from CCCM among others.
